What can we say? A girl needs her morning latte before all seems right with the world. After a nice cup of joe, a warm bath is the perfect way to start the day off right!

Sittin' Pretty
Blythe turned 5 months old two days ago, and what a superb five months it's been! We see little glimpses of her emerging personality every day. She has a wee bit of a temper (mostly when her baby food is gone), but for the most part she is just delightful. Lately, she's started to stick her tongue out when she sports a big smile - just like her daddy at times!
We've been practicing sitting so she can get the hang of it. She's done a few face plants into the carpet, but doesn't seem to be bothered at all by them. Today she sat by herself for the first time. She was even gracious enough to stay like that so mama could get a few pictures. She's just the best darn baby ever!

Fun Filled Weekend
This past weekend Grandpa Beecher braved the snowy weather and ventured to Spokane to visit the Fain clan. He hadn't seen Blythe since she was 2 weeks old, and he was surprised at how much she'd changed. We had a fabulous weekend full of great chats, shopping, theater, and good food. Blythe was enamored with her Grandpa Beecher, and we really enjoyed having him visit. He even picked out her first Christmas dress - quite a special gift for Little Missy! Thanks for the great time, Grandpa Beecher. We love you!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Sorry it has been a while since I've updated the blog - this time of year is just so busy! This was the glorious sight that met us the morning after Thanksgiving as we ventured out for lattes. Blythe isn't saying so quite yet, but we're sure she loves the snow!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We were so fortunate to have Blythe's Grammy Marilyn, Grandpa Tracy, Aunt Brook and Cousin Sala join us for a feast of all feasts. A great time was had by all, and we are so thankful for the wonderful family we have. Blythe was thankful for family as well, but she also had her own little reason for joy and thanks - her first experience with sweet potatoes! We have been giving her rice cereal for a while, but this was her first foray with a solid food. She seemed to really enjoy them. She even leaned into the spoon after the first or second spoonfuls. What a pro! I will also say that her appetizer to the "main course" was a little french vanilla cool whip - thank goodness for grammies!

4 Months!
We can hardly believe that our Little Missy is already 4 months old! She has changed so much since birth, and every day she seems older. Blythe had her routine check-up today, and she registered in the 75th percentile for everything which is a great sign in terms of her progression and growth. (Matt says "Of Course! Anything less than that would be un-Fain like.") She is now 14 lbs 7 oz and is 25 inches long! The doctor also showed me her lower gums, and there are two little white ridges that can just barely be seen. She should be sporting some shiny new white teeth soon. The doctor also said that she can start eating "solid" food. Mmm.. smashed peas. He also said that she needs to be spending time everyday in her stand up bouncy toy thing. She was plugging along and then decided to shove her hands down the leg holes - too funny not to take a picture!

Every once in a while I get a glimpse of the toddler to come. It's all happening too fast!

"B. Advanced"
"B. Advanced" is the nickname so appropriately given to Blythe by her Grandpa Tracy because she is advanced, you know. Oodles and oodles of fun was had by Blythe while spending quality time with her Grandpa Tracy. Her first trek to the cabin (not to mention Montana!) was a roaring success. She was a fabulous litte traveler, and we will surely do it again. Thanks for having us, Grandpa Tracy!

This is a tree house - literally - that is on some property in Lincoln. How fun would that be?!

Won't You Meet Me in Montana?
(Note: This post was originally intended for 11/3/06, but this site wasn't working so it isn't getting posted until now. Montana pictures to come soon!)
We are so excited! This weekend we are traveling to Lincoln, MT to introduce Blythe to Big Sky Country as well as spend some quality time with Grandpa Tracy at the cabin. It can be quite chilly in Lincoln, so we purchased a down-filled coat for her to keep her warm. We bought a 6-12m coat for her to grow in to, and by the looks of it she has a lot of growing to do!

Blythe is such a happy little person, and we just love the dickens out of her! Here she is having some cuddle time with mommy.

Baby's Got a Brand New Toy
Blythe has gotten to the point where she loves to "stand" any time she can. Our good friends Jessie and Rob let us borrow this bouncy seat, and I thought it would be fun to see how our girl did with it for the first time. I love the close up shot of her sweet little face - such determination and wonder!

Girls Weekend
On Thursday Matt left for Wisconsin to attend a continuing education course, and he isn't returning until today. So, Blythe and I invited Grammy Marilyn to come up to Spokie to have a fun-filled girls weekend. We had such a great time! We shopped, ate bad food, talked....all the things a fabulous girls weekend entails! Mom hadn't seen Blythe since she was 3 weeks old, and she couldn't believe all the changes. This little one changes so much from week to week - it's so much fun to watch!
Blythe can now roll from her back to front and front to back. Front to back seems to be a bit easier for her. She has excellent head control and stomach muscles. She props herself up on her arms for minutes at a time. So neat!
Here she is with her Grammy Marilyn. We loved having you visit, Mom!

Pumpkin Head
It was such a lovely day in Spokane last Saturday that Matt and I decided to take a trip out to Greenbluff to hand-pick some apples and enjoy the sun. Along with apples they also have u-pick pumpkins out at the orchards which makes for good family fun. We decided to pass on the pumpkin carving until Blythe gets a little older, but that didn't stop us from dressing her in the appropriate attire - hat and all. It's hard to see it in the pictures, but her onesie says "Daddy's Litte Pumpkin". We voted her the best pumpkin out there! We kicked off the outing with some BBQ lunch at the park. The brisket and pulled pork sandwiches were pretty good for the northwest, but I have to say nobody does BBQ better than the Texans.

Rollin'... Rollin'... Rollin on Over
Blythe officially hit the 3 month mark on Wednesday the 11th. Being the little intrepid spirit that she is, she decided to celebrate by rolling over for the first time! I watched her do it three times in a row, and I surprised myself with how excited and proud I got watching her roll. So, I thought I would catch the 4th attempt in a series of shots. Good idea...but not the outcome I expected. See for yourself.
Going...
...Going...
...MAD!
Rolling over is hard to do, you know. She was pretty tuckered out by the time Dad got home. Evidently he was tuckered out from work as well, so they both decided a quick nap was in order.

This is a new little outfit I bought for her. She reminds me of the Ice Queen in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but much sweeter.

Fun With Friends
Tonight we were invited out to our good friend's house for some good food and old fashioned fun. Dave and Dana have two boys, Kaden(3) and Caleb(18 months), and they absolutely love baby Blythe. Kaden has a very soft touch with Blythe, and she seems to just adore him. Here are some great pictures of the boys and all of us on the couch. (Sorry the one pic is a little blurry.)

Where Does the Time Go?
It's hard to believe that next week Blythe will be 3 months old! When I was pregnant it seemed like 3 months was an eternity, but now that she's here the time goes by so fast.
Good news: Matt's schedule has changed so now he gets home at around 6:00pm every night as opposed to 7:30. We are loving the extra time with him!
Here are some photos of the amazing baby Blythe. It looks to me like her hair is strawberry blonde. Does anyone else see it? Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part. (Notice the drool marks on my shirt - compliments of Little Missy.)
GMA Marilyn bought this adorable outfit for our girl. It's her first pair of jeans. How fashionable is she?!

California Girl
I have been patiently waiting for Blythe to be big enough to fit into this awesome onesie her Grandpa Tracy bought for her. It only lasted for half a day, but she rocked the tie-dye in true Fain fashion!

Blythe the Intrepid
Blythe went on her first walk in her Jeep stroller last Friday. Although she isn't quite old enough to honk the horn, she added her own noises as we walked. We recently moved to an area that used to be an old army fort in the early 1900s. I've included some pictures of the grounds. We just love it here.
