Girls Weekend
On Thursday Matt left for Wisconsin to attend a continuing education course, and he isn't returning until today. So, Blythe and I invited Grammy Marilyn to come up to Spokie to have a fun-filled girls weekend. We had such a great time! We shopped, ate bad food, talked....all the things a fabulous girls weekend entails! Mom hadn't seen Blythe since she was 3 weeks old, and she couldn't believe all the changes. This little one changes so much from week to week - it's so much fun to watch!
Blythe can now roll from her back to front and front to back. Front to back seems to be a bit easier for her. She has excellent head control and stomach muscles. She props herself up on her arms for minutes at a time. So neat!
Here she is with her Grammy Marilyn. We loved having you visit, Mom!

Pumpkin Head
It was such a lovely day in Spokane last Saturday that Matt and I decided to take a trip out to Greenbluff to hand-pick some apples and enjoy the sun. Along with apples they also have u-pick pumpkins out at the orchards which makes for good family fun. We decided to pass on the pumpkin carving until Blythe gets a little older, but that didn't stop us from dressing her in the appropriate attire - hat and all. It's hard to see it in the pictures, but her onesie says "Daddy's Litte Pumpkin". We voted her the best pumpkin out there! We kicked off the outing with some BBQ lunch at the park. The brisket and pulled pork sandwiches were pretty good for the northwest, but I have to say nobody does BBQ better than the Texans.

Rollin'... Rollin'... Rollin on Over
Blythe officially hit the 3 month mark on Wednesday the 11th. Being the little intrepid spirit that she is, she decided to celebrate by rolling over for the first time! I watched her do it three times in a row, and I surprised myself with how excited and proud I got watching her roll. So, I thought I would catch the 4th attempt in a series of shots. Good idea...but not the outcome I expected. See for yourself.
Going...
...Going...
...MAD!
Rolling over is hard to do, you know. She was pretty tuckered out by the time Dad got home. Evidently he was tuckered out from work as well, so they both decided a quick nap was in order.

This is a new little outfit I bought for her. She reminds me of the Ice Queen in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but much sweeter.

Fun With Friends
Tonight we were invited out to our good friend's house for some good food and old fashioned fun. Dave and Dana have two boys, Kaden(3) and Caleb(18 months), and they absolutely love baby Blythe. Kaden has a very soft touch with Blythe, and she seems to just adore him. Here are some great pictures of the boys and all of us on the couch. (Sorry the one pic is a little blurry.)

Where Does the Time Go?
It's hard to believe that next week Blythe will be 3 months old! When I was pregnant it seemed like 3 months was an eternity, but now that she's here the time goes by so fast.
Good news: Matt's schedule has changed so now he gets home at around 6:00pm every night as opposed to 7:30. We are loving the extra time with him!
Here are some photos of the amazing baby Blythe. It looks to me like her hair is strawberry blonde. Does anyone else see it? Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part. (Notice the drool marks on my shirt - compliments of Little Missy.)
GMA Marilyn bought this adorable outfit for our girl. It's her first pair of jeans. How fashionable is she?!

California Girl
I have been patiently waiting for Blythe to be big enough to fit into this awesome onesie her Grandpa Tracy bought for her. It only lasted for half a day, but she rocked the tie-dye in true Fain fashion!

Blythe the Intrepid
Blythe went on her first walk in her Jeep stroller last Friday. Although she isn't quite old enough to honk the horn, she added her own noises as we walked. We recently moved to an area that used to be an old army fort in the early 1900s. I've included some pictures of the grounds. We just love it here.

First Photos
On Wednesday Blythe had her first pictures taken. They were done by Katy Klein, and they are absolutely fabulous! She has posted a few of her favorites on her website, and we wanted to share them with all of you. Just click on the Fain album to see our gorgeous girl.

Tummy Time
Our good friend, Anna, got Blythe a playmat and she just loves it! It's an especially spiffey one as it allows for tummy time and transforms to a crawl-thru gym when Blythe is older. We tried to have tummy time tonight, but Blythe was a little wiped out and was too tired to lift up her oh-so-heavy head. She decided she'd rather take a little rest.

Warm Little Bunny
It's getting colder in Washington as fall is on the way. Yesterday it was in the 50's, and Blythe put on her coat for the first time. Too funny!

Such a Big Girl!
It's amazing that Blythe is now 2 months old! Time has flown by since she's been home, and we're having such a great time with her. She's been having fun discovering all the new things that are now in her line of sight. She "saw" Felix for the first time last night, and she smiled at him to no end. She's such a happy and delightful little girl. It's safe to say we are completely in love with her!
Little Miss Blythe had her 8 week appointment this morning. This also means that she received her first round of immunizations. I was so proud of her - she handled them like a little champ! She received 2 shots in each of her meatly little thighs, and her crying was minimal. Blythe now weighs 11 lbs 7 oz (up 4 lbs 5 oz from birth), and she is 22.75 inches long (up 3.5 inches from birth). The doctor said she is adorable and absolutely perfect....but we already knew that.
Here is a picture of her little thigh with the shot bandages. I felt so bad for my little critter!
Here she is in a Tylenol-induced stupor. The doctor said Tylenol would help take the edge off from the shots. We love our Tylenol!

A Lot of Firsts
It's been a week of firsts in the Fain household. Blythe slept for over 7 hours for the first time the other night. She's now in her own room, and we attribute that to the sleeping success we've all been enjoying! I went back to work for the first time this past Saturday. I will only be working the occasion Saturday every month. It's nice to be able to get out of the house for a bit, and the extra money each month is mighty nice. Matt did quite nicely with her all day, and she really enjoyed her time with him. Blythe also started to try and sit up for the first time this last week. When we're holding her in the upright position she tries her best to lean forward. She grows more every day, and it's so fun to watch her! This week she'll be getting her first round of immunizations (not looking forward to that!), and her first pictures will also be happening in the next week or so. We're having so much fun with all these firsts!
Father and daughter bonding time!

Little Bath Beauty
We've gotten into a nightly ritual of an evening bath right before bed. Blythe just loves the warm water, and is nothing but smiles after her bath. She was smiling so much last night I couldn't resist snapping a few shots. (Sorry they're so blurry..I'll figure out the camera thing sooner or later!)

Fun With Grandpa Hal and Uncle Dan
Over Labor Day weekend we were excited to have Matt's dad and brother visit Blythe for the first time! We ventured out to Greenbluff (a co-op of local farms where you can pick your own veggies and fruits), and a great time was had by all. Blythe was along for the ride when Grandpa Hal picked out some stellar tomatos, onions, corn and fresh herbs. She couldn't see much, but we're sure she had a fabulous time!
Here is Blythe with her Uncle Dan. I have a feeling these two will be partners in crime...I can just picture it now!

Little Food Monster
Our little girl has been so hungry today! It seems like if she's not eating or sleeping, she's crying. One of Matt's patients said babies go through a big growth spurt anywhere from 7 to 10 weeks of age. That would explain her constant need to eat, and thus very little rest for me. What a fun day I've had! I thought it would be fun to show you the quick progression from happy to not-so-happy.

It's hard to believe she's almost 7 weeks old. Her features are already changing, and she can hold her head up by herself for most of the time now. She scratched herself one morning and it's a pretty bad little gash. Poor little critter.

Fun at Home
Thank God for digital cameras! It seemed like we couldn't take enough pictures of Blythe. Here are a few of our favorites.
A little blurry, but too funny not to share.
I just can't get enough of her!

We gave her a bath for the first time in the kitchen sink. She wasn't such a fan of the water the first time, but she sure loves her baths now.

Introducing Blythe Maeryn!
Here she is with her daddy!

Here she is waiting to go home! We think she looks like a little green pea in this picture.
